NEVMUG September 2018 – Recap
Yesterday was our second North East VMUG event of 2018 and what an event it was, we arranged for another 1st class lineup and continued with a full day event as per our members requests.
Below are the sponsor, Keynote and community sessions we had planned.
We kicked off the day with our introduction session with Kyle as the MC.
First up was our VMware Keynote from Cormac Hogan, Director and Chief Technologist @ VMware – Cormac had the attendees full attention as he covered a session on “What’s happening in the world of VMware Storage”.
Next we had our first GOLD Sponsor of the Day Rubrik with a session from Hani El-Qasem @hanielqasem
(not the schedule Ed Morgan)
With a session on “Rubrik : Past, Present and the future”
We broke for a quick networking session to give the attendees time to stretch their feet and to visit the sponsor tables to discuss their products in more detail.
Up Next was our first community session by Bryan O’Conner @BryanOConnor21
with a session covering “What’s New in vSphere 6.7“
After another short break we had our second keynote of the Day Adam Bohle – Lead Cloud Systems Engineer – VMware Cloud on AWS
Adam’s session was a follow up on Frank Denneman session earlier in the year on “VMware Cloud on AWS – What’s New”
Did anyone say vBeers !!!
We took a quick break and opened the bar to get the attendees loosened up and chatting over a vBeer.
Up Next was our second Gold sponsor session
NAKIVO – Nick Luchkov, Senior Technical Pre-Sales Manager
It was Nakivo’s first time at one of our events and their session was received well by the attendees, the session was on
“Protecting VMware/Hyper-V environments with NAKIVO Backup & Replication”
Next up was the third Gold sponsor – IGEL – Tom Illingworth with a session on “Thin client? It’s all about the software.”
After another network session and vBeers we had another Top class community session by Dale Handley @dalemhandley
Where Dale went through how to create custom forms in vRealize Automation 7.4vRA.
The final session of today was by Darren Hirons Systems Engineer @ VMware
This was a change to the planned session as Darren asked the audience to vote on which session they wanted him to go over and the majority vote was for a new session covering “Cars, Horses and windows 10”
As always at the North East VMUG sessions the final part of the day is the SWAG giveaways and in true North East VMUG style we ran through the Vendor Giveaway’s
(What I hear you say the same attendees won the Vendor giveaway’s #InItToWinIt )
Then the NEVMUG Giveaway’s
At this point the North East VMUG Leadership Team would like to say a massive thankyou to our sponsors for making this Day possible and also to the attendees for supporting our local community.
Thanks everyone for making this day go without any issues
Yesterday’s final session was vBeers time !! Hosted at Union rooms where we had the chance to sample a few bevy’s into the late evening……..
