AWS North East User Group – Recap
This month we were pleased to announce and host the first AWS North East User Group, this is a joint venture that myself & Kyle Jenner have pondered over for a few months, therefore for the start of 2018 we decided to re-activate this User Group in the North East of England. We were surprised at the initial uptake of the group on Meetup where we now have over 100 members signed up.
With this in mind the planning of the first event was well underway, as like all User Group communities we were looking for our first sponsor and location to host the event and thanks to our friends and colleagues at HTG and Campus North we were finally ready to announce the first event on Monday 5th March 2018.
For our First event we had a very impressive lineup of speaker sessions starting with a Brief introduction from Kyle on who we are and why we have re-booted the user group.
The next session was a brief introduction from our sponsors HTG.
Next up we had Ric Harvey – UK and Ireland Technical/Developer Evangelist @AWS – @ric__harvey with a Deep Dive on Route 53.
Following a brief Networking session we had Steve Drew – Solution Architect RackSpace – @steevedrew with “Real World War Stories” on containers.
Next up we had Andrew Wood – Senior Consultant, Workspaces, Professional Services @AWS – @andymwood with a session on Workspaces and AppStream 2.0
We would like to say a special thankyou to HTG for sponsoring the event and supplying the beers and the Pizzas and to Campus North for the venue, without your continued support these events would not be possible.
Our Slack channel can be joined with the following Link, if you have any suggestions for any sessions please get in touch with myself or Kyle by email, Twitter or Meetup.
